Lucha Madness Championship Final Results!

The time has come sports fans. Last night the polls for Lucha Central’s Lucha Madness Championship Round, presented by Expo Lucha 2019 and Quiet Wyatt Designs, closed, officially marking the end of the first edition of this fantasy tournament. It will definitely not be the last; the amount of votes we received over the course of Lucha Madness trumped our expectations and we’d like to thank you all for contributing to a very fun experience. But now we must reveal who came out on top when all was said and done? Was it former CMLL luchador turned WWE star Andrade “Cien” Almas? Or was it former AAA star turned hottest free agent in lucha libre El Hijo del Fantasma? The people have spoken and the winner is…ANDRADE “CIEN” ALMAS!

It was, as expected, a struggle for Almas to get here, as El Hijo del Fantasma’s fans put the former AAA star out in front early in the week. Many of us here expected Fantasma to hold on from that point, much like he had in earlier rounds. But just as he had against Pentagon, Fenix and Dragon Lee, Andrade and his fans rallied and pulled ahead with a huge surge of votes between Wednesday and Thursday. In the end that was enough to pull the WWE superstar ahead to make him the first ever Lucha Madness Champion.

Championship Round Voting

Andrade “Cien” Almas: 64%

El Hijo del Fantasma: 37%

We here at Lucha Central congratulate Andrade on his victory, as well as the fans who voted him all the way to this point. The same goes for Fantasma and his fans, who helped him go from a five seed to the near winner of this whole tournament. Frankly we’d like to thank all the fans for their votes and support throughout this tournament, as well as Expo Lucha 2019 and Quiet Wyatt Designs for partnering up in this endevaour (this tournament would’ve been nothing without the help of Nolan Ryan, who designed both the brackets and the logo. Thank you Nolan!). This was a whole lot of fun and I’m proud to say that we will definitely be bringing this tournament back next year. Until then however, on behalf of Expo Lucha 2019 and Quiet Wyatt Designs, this is Lucha Central closing out the 2019 edition of Lucha Madness. See you next year!

The polls will once again remain open for two days, closing on Saturday. This time however, we’ll be extending the deadline a couple of hours; instead of polls closing at 11 a.m. Eastern Standard Time, they will instead close at 2 p.m. EST, in order to allow those on the West Coast of the US a little more time to vote.
