Pro Wrestling Illustrated magazine released the 2021 PWI 500, its top 500 of the best wrestlers of the year, in which 43 luchadores are part of it, with the CMLL World Heavyweight Champion Ultimo Guerrero being the best positioned by placing 17 in the list. 

In addition to El Luchador de Otro Nivel, eight luchadores are among the top 100, being Laredo Kid, Dragon Lee, Hijo del Vikingo, Rey Fenix, Pagano, Caristico (Mistico) and Santos Escobar.

The big absentee this year is Rush, who last year was the best luchador in the 2020 PWI 500.
