Earlier today, Dragon Lee tweeted that he would not be able to be at NXT New Years Evil on January 2nd “due to visa issues.”

LuchaCentral has learned that this is really more of a situation of timing rather than an “issue.”
While in Mexico for the holidays, Lee also took care of his visa renewal. WWE was aware that he would have to wait up to 10 business days before being able to have the visa in hand. Lee is scheduled to receive his new visa on January 2nd. Originally, only scheduled to appear on Smackdown this week, the January 2nd date given to him by the U.S. government was not an issue.
With winning the NXT North American Championship, it would have been ideal for Lee to have been able to appear at the next NXT special event New Years Evil on January 2nd. Unfortunately, there is no way possible to receive his visa on January 2nd and still make it to Orlando in time for the NXT event.
This “issue” Lee spoke of should resolve itself this week with him returning to the U.S. in just a few days.
