The Arena Ciudad de México vibrated during the latest episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown with a spectacular title defense. Rey Fenix successfully retained the Lucha Libre AAA World Cruiserweight Championship after defeating “Absolute” Ricky Saints in a fast-paced match. From the opening minutes, the masked superstar fired up the local crowd with headscissors, overhand chops, and impressive arm drags, though the challenger Saints responded with agility and temporarily took control after executing a tornado DDT on the floor.
In the middle stretch, the match escalated in intensity with a constant exchange of high-flying and high-impact maneuvers. Fenix managed to overcome his opponent’s momentum by landing a springboard Frankensteiner, his signature Goodbye Amigo!, and a flawless Orihara moonsault. For his part, Saints came close to crowning himself champion after stopping the titleholder with a devastating powerbomb and a Revolution DDT, highlighting the grueling nature of the contest.
The finish came following a swift exchange of superkicks in the turnbuckle. Fenix managed to hook Saints to plant him with a forceful Mexican Muscle Buster, securing the pinfall victory to the ovation of the fans. After the match, the champion offered a handshake in a show of respect, but a frustrated Ricky Saints cold-shouldered the gesture and left the stage repeatedly checking his teeth.
Additionally, the match card featured more title action for the Lucha Libre AAA brand. The War Raiders (Erik & Ivar) remain Lucha Libre AAA World Tag Team Champions after emerging victorious in their match against the team of Damian Priest & R-Truth.
