The latest episode of AEW Dynamite served as a premiere showcase for Latin American wrestling talent. Highlighted by strategic alliances, championship victories, and the consolidation of both established stars and rising talent, Bandido, Persephone, and Andrade “El Ídolo” captured the evening’s spotlight.
Andrade “El Idolo” Retains Against Mortos in an All-Mexican Clash
The AEW National Championship was on the line in a hard-hitting collision between Andrade “El Ídolo” and The Beast Mortos. The action exploded immediately as Andrade delivered a diving Frankensteiner to the floor, drawing thunderous “How you know?” chants from the crowd.
Mortos answered with brute force, turning La Atlántida into a backbreaker followed by a massive tornillo to the outside. However, in the closing moments, Andrade halted his countryman’s momentum with a back elbow, setup his double underhook, and planted him with the DM to score the pinfall and retain the gold.
Following the match, Andrade took to the microphone to proclaim himself the “Real Latino Man”, reiterating his commitment to defending the championship every single week. The celebration was short-lived, however, as he was blindsided and beaten down by “The Dogs,” led by Gabe Kidd, leaving a clear threat over the champion.
Persephone: Determination and Power in the Women’s Division
In a chaotic trios match, Persephone joined forces with former champions Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. and Hikaru Shida to take on the team of Maya World, Hyan, and Thunder Rosa.
From the opening minutes, the Mexican star set the pace against Thunder Rosa with a crisp kip-up response and a clean execution of a satellite side Russian legsweep. Although the opposing team attempted to dictate the rhythm through quick tags, Persephone‘s presence proved decisive during the match’s closing stretch.
In the crucial climax, following a distraction from Rebel at ringside, Persephone split Thunder Rosa in half with a devastating spear outside the ring. This cleared the path for Britt Baker to secure the submission victory, locking in her trademark Lockjaw on Hyan.
Bandido’s Presence and the “Brodido” Alliance
The men’s division also featured key support from the “Brodido” alliance, featuring Bandido. Alongside “Hangman” Adam Page, the Latin faction stepped in following the World Trios Championship match to back up Swerve Strickland and The New Level. They forced The Demand and Lethal Twist (led by Ricochet) to retreat, handing the title belts back to the champions and making a firm statement on AEW programming.
