The streets will come alive this Sunday, October 5, 2025, at 7:30 a.m. as more than 1,000 runners take their marks for the third edition of the Lucha Run 5K, an event that fuses athletic endurance with the colorful energy of lucha libre. Federico Camacho added: “The idea of this competition is to bring together Lucha Libre and atheltics, making it a family oriented event.”

The race, open to teens and adults, has quickly become one of the region’s most distinctive running events. Alongside seasoned runners, several luchadores will trade the ring for the road, adding spectacle to the competition.

Among the athletes to watch is the luchador Juventud 2000, the reigning Lucha Run Champion from Tijuana. Having claimed victory in both prior editions, Juventud will attempt to defend his title for a third consecutive year. Juventud 2000 stated: I’m opening the challenge to my fellow Luchadores, I’m here waiting and ready to win again.” Organizers anticipate a record-breaking pace in 2025, with top runners eyeing the event’s fastest times.

To fuel the excitement, more than 700 participants received the official Lucha Run Kit, featuring a dry-fit shirt sponsored by Masked Republic. The gear has become a badge of honor for returning runners and first-timers alike.
