The new champions will be defined in a tag team tournament
After 27 years, the Mexican National Tag Team Championship return to the CMLL, as Julio César Rivera announced on Wednesday during the CMLL Homenaje a Dos Leyendas 2020 press conference at the Arena Mexico.
The new Mexican Tag Team Champions will be defined in a tag team tournament, which will begin this coming February 28, having its grand finale on March 13.
In May 1992, the Mexican National Tag Team Championship ceased to belong to the CMLL when Volador & Misterioso left the company to join to the Lucha Libre AAA.
The last official Mexican Tag Team Champions were La Parka & Octagon, they want to make 13 official defenses for eight years. The last time the Mexican National Tag Team Championship was defended was on December 25, 2011 at the Arena Naucalpan, when La Parka & Octagon defeated Chessman & Silver King.
During their stay at Lucha Libre AAA some outstanding champions were the Legends of Lucha Libre stars Fuerza Guerrera & Juventud Guerrera and Perro Aguayo & Hijo del Perro Aguayo.
