If you think things were going to calm down in the wrestling world following yesterday’s shocking turn of events, think again! Just a day after Dean Ambrose and Hideo Itami were both announced to be leaving WWE, All Elite Wrestling has decided to make a few moves of their own. According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, current AAA Cruiserweight Champion Sammy Guevara will be signing or has already signed with the promotion, along with Chicago based wrestler Kylie Rae and the popular New Japan/Ring of Honor tag team Best Friends, consisting of Chuck Taylor and Trent Barreta.

A seven year veteran, the 25 year old Guevara began his career in his native Texas. He would break out a few years later both in the States and Mexico working for promotions like Pro Wrestling Guerilla, EVOLVE, The Crash and Aro Lucha, where he was reportedly signed to a contract at the time. Aro Lucha’s inactivity would eventually allow him to work Lucha Underground during their fourth season as well as tapings for Major League Wrestling (who just announced Guevara had left a few days ago). Soon after he would join AAA and win the World Cruiserweight Championship at Triplemania in a four way featuring Australian Suicide, ACH and Shane Strickland. Guevara is scheduled to appear at AAA’s next three tapings and will be defending the Cruiserweight Championship against Flamita and Hijo del Vikingo on February 8th; while it’s always possible AAA and AEW may announce a working relationship, it’s now extremely likely Guevara will be dropping the title at that event.
