Tonight I attended my first wrestling event in quite sometime, going to Big Time Wrestling’s McCoy Stadium event in Pawtucket, Rhode Island with the hopes of doing full results for the show. That will have to wait thanks to bigger news coming from the show, which ended with main event going home quickly after Rey Fenix appeared to go down with an injury.

The potential injury occurred in fall three of a two out of three falls match between the Lucha Brothers (Fenix and Pentagon Jr.) and the makeshift tag team of Teddy Hart and Juventud Guerrera, in for Hart’s usual partner Davey Boy Smith Jr. Fenix interrupted a pinfall attempt by Hart by superkicking him, and then went to pick up Guerrera when he suddenly dropped to the mat clutching his leg. Fenix would then roll out of the ring and upon having trouble putting pressure on his leg waved for help from the back. He was then helped to the back with Hart closely behind him looking concerned; in the ring Guerrera quickly ended the match by pinning Pentagon, who then went to join his brother.

There is no word on what the injury is now; I myself am not a doctor and will not speculate on what happened, though I will say that the injury did not appear to be a break, contrary to some apparent speculation. The timing however could not be worse for Fenix, who is scheduled for PWG’s Battle of Los Angeles in a little less than a month, is likely to appear at AAA’s Hulu Theater show in Madison Square Garden in just three weeks and most notably will be defending the AAA Tag Team Championships with Pentagon in a ladder match next Saturday against The Young Bucks at All Elite Wrestling’s All Out event. This is yet another potential piece of bad news for AEW after Jon Moxley was forced to pull out of All Out earlier today due to a MRSA infection.

Update: Taya Valkyrie has confirmed on Twitter that Fenix’ injury is indeed not a broken leg and that he is okay. There are no other details on his status at this time.
