Tonight’s CMLL show from Arena Mexico was very much a show. Nothing on it was terrible and some of the wrestling was good, but overall there wasn’t anything that jumped out to make this a must watch show the way last night’s Puebla event was. Still, there are worse ways to spend two hours. If you missed this finding out who was Roman Reigns’ attacker, here’s what occurred.

El Coyote & Grako defeated Arkalis & Robin two falls to one after Grako pinned Arkalis with a top rope Elbow Drop and Coyote pinned Robin with an Avalanche Butterfly Suplex. An uneventful opener outside of a few decent moments from the rudos and Robin doing stuff briefly in fall three. You think Robin regrets not taking part in the destruction of Último Guerrero’s car, thus allowing him to be set free and get a fresh start elsewhere? I would.

Cancerbero, Difunto, Raziel defeated Star Jr., Star Black, Super Astro Jr. two falls to one after Raziel submitted Star Jr. with a terrific Roll Up style submission. I’m not sure this was a good match but it was definitely above average for what we usually get. Difunto got some better talent to work with than he had last night and looked pretty good, even fitting in nicely with a harder working than usual Los Cancerberos unit. All three technicos were also good, with Super Astro Jr. and Star Jr. really standing out and Star Black having a better performance than he did last night in Puebla. It wasn’t action packed, but it was well worked for what they were trying to do.

Blue Panther Jr., Guerrero Maya Jr., Pegasso defeated Olímpico, Tiger, Universo 2000 Jr. two falls to one after Pegasso pinned Universo with a 450 Splash and Maya pinned Olímpico with a Sacrifico Maya. Blue Panther Jr. replaced his father. Another solid, if not overly exciting match. Blue Panther Jr. and Tiger worked well together as per usual, while Maya and Pegasso threw in a couple of dives to get the crowd going. Universo 2000 Jr. didn’t do a whole lot but was okay, and the usually useless Olímpico was actually alright. It helped that he took the pin from Maya to win the match. Another bout that could’ve used a bit more oomph but did what it was trying to do well.

Hijo del Villano III defeated Black Panther in a Lightning Match at the 8:28 mark, pinning Panther with a Top Rope Splash. I get the feeling others won’t really care for this match but I enjoyed it! Black Panther was really good, controlling most of the middle section and hitting some great suicide dives. And while I’ve yet to see again the performance he had in the CMLL Super Lightweight cibernetico, Hijo del Villano III was overall decent and seems to be gaining more confidence with his work in playing to the audience. A little more experience and I think he can be something really good. This will probably be another match that people would’ve liked more action from but I thought it was another well worked, easy to watch match.

Audaz, Kráneo, Stuka Jr. defeated Felino, Pólvora, Vangellys two falls to one after Audaz pinned Vangellys with a Dragonrana and Stuka pinned Felino with a Stuka Splash. Definitely the weakest match of the undercard outside of the opener. Audaz was giving his usual effort and had some exciting moments, but also had a noticeable botch, proving that he is in fact human. Everyone else seemed to be going through the motions, with the match largely being built around Kráneo’s act. He did hit a great splash onto Pólvora off the apron so the match did have that I suppose.

Rey Bucanero, Templario, Terrible defeated Atlantis, Carístico, Soberano Jr. two falls to one after Terrible pinned Carístico with a Terrible Clash. This was a match where some people were trying, others were coasting and others were caught in between. Terrible and Carístico had some moments but were generally not working at high gear. Atlantis and Terrible were so nonexistent I occasionally forgot they were in the match. That left Soberano and Templario to give strong efforts; unfortunately that led to Soberano hitting the ropes on his over the rope tornillo dive and landing hard. At least he was trying though! A forgettable Tuesday main event aside from him and Templario.
