CMLL’s Tuesday show in Arena Mexico was the usual ho hum affair…until the Dinamitas, Ángel de Oro, Niebla Roja and Soberano Jr. turned it on its head in the main event with perhaps the best match you’ll see on the Tuesday show all year. It’s that good! If you missed it and the rest of the happenings, here’s what you need to know.

Astral & Eddie Moreau defeated Espíritu Negro & Hugo Perez two falls to one after Moreau pinned Perez with a Hurricanrana and Astral submitted Negro. Moreau (from Belgium) and Perez (from Ecuador) appear to be trainees of Nitro; they replaced Eléctrico and Hijo del Signo respectively. This was the usual mediocre opener. Astral had a good night and Perez came off as a legitimately good powerhouse. Espíritu Maligno however added nothing to this match and Moreau was clumsy and green. Too bad Perez won’t get another chance in Arena Mexico because he looks to have potential.

Atomo, El Gallito, Microman defeated Chamuel, Mije, Zacarias two falls to one after Microman pinned Zacarias with a splash. This match unfortunately happened as Magic Johnson was busy officially driving the stake through the heart of the Los Angeles Lakers so I missed a chunk of this. What I saw was the usual from the micro stars these days; Microman, Gallito and Chamuel were solid, everyone else was average to below.

Audaz, Blue Panther Jr., Tritón defeated Kawato San, Tiger, Universo 2000 Jr. two falls to one after Audaz pinned Universo with a Dragonrana and Tritón pinned Kawato with a 450 Splash. A fun match even by Tuesday standards! Audaz, as usual, had a really good night and both Junior and Tritón were right there with him, with Junior having a strong power night in particular. Tiger worked great with all three technicos while Kawato and Universo were solid. Could’ve been a bit smoother in some spots but overall very enjoyable.

Flyer defeated Felino in a Lightning Match at the 5:59 mark. The finish came when Felino, evidently, fouled Flyer, though it looked more like he punched Flyer in the gut. Terrible ending to a disappointing match quite frankly. The guys were trying didn’t click very well overall, with Flyer having one of his off nights and Felino in coast mode. Poor Flyer is definitely getting mocked for this one later.

Atlantis, Diamante Azul, Titán defeated Ephesto, Luciferno, Mephisto two falls to one after Mephisto unmasked Atlantis for the DQ. It doesn’t get much lazier than two straight matches ending in DQ. Well other than the rest of this match, which was as boring as humanly possible. Only Titán seemed to be trying, with everyone else going through the motions and Diamante Azul flat out disappearing. No challenges were issued after the unmasking so it appears that was done just to do it. Okay then.
