Tonight’s CMLL had one notable moment…and it was when a luchador killed himself on a botched dive. Never a good sign. If you missed that and the rest of the events, here’s what happened.

Akuma & Inquisidor defeated Retro & Sangre Imperial two falls to one after Akuma pinned Retro with a splash and Inquisidor pinned Imperial with a Codebreaker out of a Muscle Buster position. Ever see a CMLL opener before? Same thing as always. Akuma looked very much like Demus and was the best guy in this match. He has no hope. Sadness.

Disturbio, Nitro, Sangre Azteca  defeated Oro Jr., Star Jr., Super Astro Jr. two falls to none after Disturbio pinned Star Jr. Match ended abruptly after Super Astro Jr. went for a moonsault, slipped and landed on his head; this was a legitimately disturbing moment and he was stretchered out as quickly as possible. The rudos quickly went to wrap the match up after this. This was terrifying and we hope Super Astro Jr. is okay.

Fuego defeated Universo 2000 Jr. in a Lightning Match at the 5:50 mark. The finish came after Fuego reversed a powerbomb attempt into a Hurricanrana and kept Universo down just long enough for the pin. I will probably be alone here but I was pleasantly surprised by this match and thought it was fun. Huge credit goes to Fuego; he appeared motivated to show CMLL what they were missing out on and worked a high effort match that included a bullet tope, another dive and a few new cool tricks. Even the usual rana finish had some pop to it. Universo had some struggles with his offense but was overall just fine basing for Fuego. A solid Lightning Match.

Esfinge, Titán, Tritón defeated Kawato San, Misterioso Jr., Pólvora two falls to one after Titán rolled up Pólvora for the pin. This match was shortchanged on time after referee Pompin called an unexpected DQ in fall two after Misterioso pulled Esfinge’s mask too far off. This is why Edgar needs to ref every match; he would’ve kept that shit going. Match was okay otherwise.

Ephesto, Luciferno, Mephisto defeated Kráneo, Stuka Jr., Volcano two falls to one after Ephesto pinned Kráneo and Mephisto pinned Volcano. This was long and boring. The guys were trying, but with no above average guy outside of maybe Stuka and Mephisto the action was just plodding. Volcano continues to be mediocre.

Atlantis, Mistico, Valiente defeated Hijo del Villano III, Último Guerrero, Villano IV two falls to one after Villano IV unmasked Atlantis for the DQ. No challenges were issued so it doesn’t appear that match is happening next week. Mediocre main event beyond that; it was so off that Mistico and Último Guerrero were botching spots together. A fittingly uneventful end to an uneventful show.
