After last week’s Tuesday show was shockingly good, CMLL returned to giving piss poor efforts in Arena Mexico on this Tuesday night. Nothing was worth watching, almost every luchador seemed like they’d rather be anywhere else. A good time was had by none as they say, unless you count somewhat solid matches as a good time. If you missed all this doing whatever else, here’s what happened.

Angelito & Shockercito defeated Pequeño Olímpico & Pequeño Universo two falls to one.

Metatrón, Oro Jr., Príncipe Diamante defeated Akuma, Espíritu Negro, Nitro two falls to none after Negro unmasked Príncipe Diamante. That’s right; a Príncipe Diamante-Espíritu Negro feud was teased here. The only thing more improbably of that going into the show would’ve been a Metatrón dive…something that also happened here because this show is crazy. Sadly the rest of the match wasn’t that unpredictable. Honestly it wasn’t even a match; it was mostly a forgettable sprint to get this match over as soon as possible while also setting up this possible angle. I’m guessing we’ll never get anything else between Diamante and Negro and this is all leading to that boring ass cage match CMLL does every December. Ho hum.

Black Panther, Blue Panther Jr., Fuego defeated Dark Magic, Disturbio, Pólvora two falls to one after Black Panther pinned Pólvora following a second rope long range dropkick. A surprisingly solid match, though I may just be saying that because the rest of the CMLL matches have ranged from mediocre to utter shit. There wasn’t anything special in this match but it was worked pretty well and went by quickly, always a good thing on these Tuesday shows. Dark Magic seemed strangely competent; perhaps he’s improving ever so slowly? Then again maybe I just imagined the improvement. Yeah, that makes more sense.

Vangellys defeated Esfinge in a Lightning Match at the 6:48 mark after pinning Esfinge with a Spear. This was yet another terrible finish as it appeared Esfinge was supposed to kick out (and may have kicked out), only for Pompin to count the three anyway. I don’t even know with these Lightning Matches anymore. The good news is this match did get more time than the Friday debacle and to Esfinge and Vangellys’ credit wasn’t the dirt worst. Of course that was mostly because Esfinge got two decent dives while Vangellys did didly squat but still; better than nothing. Boy you know it’s dire for CMLL when this is the best they can do in a Lightning Match these days. BIG YIKES!

Felino, Rey Bucanero, Terrible defeated Blue Panther, Guerrero Maya Jr., Rey Cometa two falls to one after Felino pinned Maya with a Flying Clothesline and Bucanero submitted Panther. There were a few moments of inspiration here and Rey Cometa actually looked to have a little more spring in his step than recently, but this match overall was a bore. Neither team seemed all that interested in producing a good match (other than Blue Panther I suppose), so it all felt mailed in for the most part. I guess they didn’t mess up the finish though so there is that.

Carístico, Titán, Valiente defeated Cavernario, Negro Casas, Templario two falls to one after Titán pinned Templario with a Springboard Double Stomp and Carístico submitted Cavernario with La Mistica. This was the best match on the show…what  a sad state for this show! It actually wasn’t terrible but this was another match where it felt liked everyone was in second gear (especially Carístico, who seemed outright bored by the end) and thus the match felt largely mailed in. It was still better than everything else on the show, but that was the lowest of bars to clear.
