After attending an awesome AAA show in New York last night, it was all back to normal for me today with CMLL Puebla. The Monday show, which started hours earlier due to the holiday (Mexican Independence Day) was supposed to be a bigger show than usual. Instead it was more of the same Puebla nonsense. The effort was a bit better than usual, but the matches remained the same middling affairs with not a whole lot of meat to them. We also had yet another feud end before it really began in favor of another feud that will do the same…only in CMLL! If you missed it all, here’s what occurred.

Arez, Black Tiger, Policeman defeated Centella Roja, Meyer, Tigre Rojo Jr. two falls to one.

Lluvia, Sanely, Skadi wrestled Amapola, Metálica, Tiffany to a draw after Lluvia and Metálica pinned each other on a Small Package attempt. The rare double pin that actually ends a CMLL match! This was where you could tell the effort level would be higher on the show than usual as all six luchadoras did their best to make this a good match. Unfortunately Skadi (ambitious as she is) and Tiffany remain very mediocre regardless of their effort and the match was still nowhere near good. The finish suggests Lluvia and Metálica will be wrestling soon which would definitely be a match up I never thought I’d ever see. Knowing CMLL they’ll change it to Metálica-Sanely next week.

Dulce Gardenia, Rey Cometa, Stigma defeated Okumura, Olímpico, Perverso two falls to one after Dulce pinned Okumura with a roll up. Another match with decent effort that was just kind of there. Dulce Gardenia gave a good performance but his partners both floated in and out of the match and it’s always going to be difficult to have a strong match when the rudo team is Okumura, Perverso and Olímpico, no matter how many dives Olímpico may do (one in this match). It was definitely preferable to what we would’ve gotten on a normal show, but still not very good.

Atlantis, Atlantis Jr., Flyer defeated Hijo del Villano III, Templario, Vangellys two falls to one after Flyer pinned Templario with a Code Red and Atlantis Jr. submitted Villano with La Atlantida. The best news coming out of this match is that Atlantis Jr. put on La Atlantida with no problem. Beyond that this was another match that didn’t do a whole lot. Atlantis Jr. was the standout performer but he wasn’t doing as much as he would on a Friday, while Flyer, Templario and Villano were all servicecable. Atlantis continues to be practically immobile and matching him with Vangellys was a typically terrible CMLL idea that didn’t work in practice any more than it did on paper.

Carístico, Mistico, Terrible defeated Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Soberano Jr. two falls to one after Casas low blowed Carístico for the DQ. Remember last week when they looked like they were setting up Negro Casas vs. Terrible only a week after it looked like CMLL set up Dragón Lee vs. Volador Jr.? Guess what; they’ve changed it again, this time to Carístico vs. Casas…until that changes next week! That’s at least an interesting matchup if CMLL does it so can’t complain there; it’s just frustrating to see CMLL’s direction change so much week to week. As for the match itself it was largely a brawl where not a whole lot happened beyond Casas and Carístico feuding. Nothing you need to see.
