CMLL was back in Arena Puebla tonight and, for the first time in a long time, it felt like a fun show when all was said and done. Not a good show necessarily but a fun one. If you missed it, here are the results.

Mercurio, Mini Joker, Saurón defeated Angelito, Astro, Shockercito two falls to one after Mercurio reversed a Shockercito roll up into one of his own. An honest to Grodd decent Puebla opener, maybe the best in 2018. Nothing earth shattering but the work was solid all around and the technicos in particular came off very good.

Kawato San, Okumura, Policeman defeated Drone, Star Jr., Stigma two falls to one after Okumura pinned Drone following a Superplex. Another surprisingly decent match! There were plenty of dives, with Stigma breaking out a Brillo Dorada for the first time in months. Ironically this was the low point of the match as Kawato failed to catch him (again). Other than that the action was pretty solid and Kawato looked far better tonight working with Star Jr. once again. If CMLL ever decides to do it, that match looks promising.

Hechicero, Shocker, Templario defeated Niebla Roja, Stuka Jr., Valiente two falls to one after Shocker rolled up Valiente. It may be because Puebla is shitty almost all the time but this was above average too, with everyone being active and delivering some cool spots, like the Valiente monkey flip of Stuka onto the floor. Even Shocker was alright, though he suffered a nasty gash for his troubles.

Atlantis defeated Rush two falls to one to retain the Mexican National Light Heavyweight Championship after two Side Slams. In terms of in ring work this match wasn’t much, but the crowd was into everything these two did, with Atlantis especially being over. One of those rare mediocre work rate bouts with huge heat to cancel it out.

Carístico, Gran Guerrero, Último Guerrero defeated Flyer, Mistico, Volador Jr. two falls to one after Mistico pulled off Carístico’s mask for the DQ. It appeared to not be the intended finish, but Mistico’ tear was so much that Tirantes decided to end things. Match was going pretty good up till that point, with massive heat ala the semi-main. UG issued a challenge for a rematch next week so expect to see this match again.
