It was a given that there’d be some big things coming out of MLW’s show tonight in New York. Naturally they’ve gone bigger than any of us could imagine! Just moments ago MLW announced via a hype video that CMLL star and the founder of Los Ingobernables himself, Rush, will be debuting for the promotion. No date was given.
To say this is monumental news in a way is an understatement. For one Rush joining MLW would make him the first full time CMLL luchador to join the promotion; while LA Park, Fenix, Pentagon Jr. and Hijo de LA Park have all worked CMLL this year, it has been on a freelancer basis only. Whether this suggests MLW will be working with CMLL (in addition to working with AAA) or if this is a deal Rush made on his own is yet to be determined. Most importantly though this puts Rush in the same promotion with longtime enemy LA Park yet again. The feud between the two has revitalized both of their careers this past year in Mexico and was the catalyst for getting Park more notoriety in the states for the first time in decades. It is just a question of when, not if, MLW decides to put these two together for what should be their first major encounter on US soil.
UPDATE: MLW has confirmed on tonight’s episode that Rush will be debuting at their Chicago taping on November 8th. No match was announced, though a confrontation with LA Park is unlikely as Park and his son, Hijo de LA Park, will be facing Pentagon and Fenix for the MLW Tag Team Championships.
Lucha Central will provide more details on Rush’s MLW debut when they come along.
