It’s been a busy couple of days for Rey Mysterio. Yesterday San Diego announced that today, June 19th, would officially be Rey Mysterio Day. Now, at a press conference celebrating the event, the lucha libre legend has given us an update on his potential future with WWE. Mysterio revealed that him and the wrestling monolith have discussed a three year deal that would see the legend return to the promotion where he became a two time World Champion during a ten year plus stint. As of now no deal has been reached; it’s presumed that this deal being completed hangs on Mysterio being granted a part time schedule, something he has reportedly sought during negotiations.

Mysterio last appeared for WWE earlier this year at the Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia. Even if a deal is reached between the two sides it’s unclear when Mysterio would start, as he is booked for All In on September 1st and is expected by many to appear at New Japan’s Cow Palace show on July 7th and AAA’s Triplemania XXVI on August 25th. As always, Lucha Central will keep you updated on any further developments in this story.
