Remember when everyone thought Pentagon Jr. and Fenix were leaving MLW? Pepperidge Farm remembers! The Lucha Brothers are indeed sticking around MLW (in addition to working everywhere else on the planet) and their next match is a lucha libre whopper. As announced by MLW just moments ago on Twitter, Pentagon and Fenix will be squaring off against Team AAA, Laredo Kid and Taurus, at MLW’s upcoming Intimidation Games tapings on March 2nd.
The fact that MLW has labeled Laredo and Taurus as Team AAA seems to indicate the “loose” alliance between MLW and AAA is continuing, in addition to all the other partnerships AAA seems to be involved in these days. More importantly is that this match should be a show stealer and a great showcase for two of AAA’s fastest rising stars. Laredo Kid has broken out as a star in AAA with an incredible run over the last six months and seems poised to break out in the US now between this booking and two straight PWG appearances, including an upcoming one on one match with fellow AAA luchador Puma King at PWG’s Two Hundred. Meanwhile Taurus, also known as Black Taurus, has long been one of lucha libre’s best kept secrets, a nonstop locomotive who is capable of working every style and should immediately get over based on his skill. Coincidentally Laredo and Taurus just wrestled each other one on one at AAA’s Mazatlan taping this past Friday in a match many, including myself, felt was a Match of the Year candidate. I expect they’ll show similar chemistry when teaming up for this bout.
MLW’s Intimidation Games will take place March 2nd at Cicero Stadium in Chicago, Illinois and potentially could air live that night on beIN Sports depending on how MLW structures the tapings.
