Ring of Honor’s Survival of the Fittest tournament is returning and considering the presence of CMLL luchadores in it over the past few years, it only made sense that a few more would be returning for this go around. The surprise is that it will be two luchadores ROH fans are already familiar with from this year, as Guerrero Maya Jr. and Stuka Jr. will be making their returns to ROH to complete in the tournament.
Fans will recall that both Maya and Stuka appeared in ROH this past June, where they teamed with Atlantis to defeat So Cal Uncensored and lose a ROH Six Man Tag Team Titles match to The Kingdom (TK O’Ryan, Vinny Marseglia and frequent CMLL guest Matt Taven) during a quick tour of Texas. There performances were well received (with Maya, the long time underutilized CMLL midcarder, particularly standing out) so it makes all the sense why ROH would want them back. Stuka Jr. winning the NWA World Historic Light Heavyweight Championship recently couldn’t have hurt his chances either. This will be Maya’s second stint in ROH and Stuka’s third; he had previously wrestled against Hiromu Takahashi (then Kamaitachi) at a TV taping back in 2016.
Ring of Honor’s Survival of the Fittest show will take place on November 4th and can be viewed on Honor Club.
