CMLL held a press conference today and, as per usual, it was an event full of announcements. The most notable of these was what everyone expected, with CMLL officially announcing Último Guerrero vs. Máscara Año 2000 and Amapola vs. Kaho Kobayashi in hair vs. hair matches for May 31st. The event will be promoted as the Juicio Final, the first event CMLL has promoted under that name since August of 2014. Both pairings have been feuding for the last several weeks, making it more a question of when, not if, these matches would be taking place.
In addition to the two hair matches, CMLL has loaded up the Juicio Final card up with matches that range from good to “why is that guy there?”. The most notable undercard match will be Diamante Azul and Valiente defending their CMLL World Tag Team Championships against the always impressive tandem of Euforia and Gran Guerrero. Elsewhere the tension filled trio of Caristico, Mistico and Volador Jr. will take on La Peste Negra members Cavernario, Mr. Niebla and Negro Casas, Ángel de Oro, Niebla Roja, Soberano Jr. will take on Los Hijos del Infierno (Ephesto, Luciferno, Mephisto) and Rey Cometa will team with the Panther Brothers (Black Panther and Blue Panther Jr.) to face Kawato San, Misterioso Jr. and Virus in the opener.
But wait; there’s more! CMLL also announced they have secured another TV deal with the TV Mexiquense station; the show will air starting June 2nd, and will air every Sunday from that point forward from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. CMLL also announced their follow up to the Juicio Final with the Copa Dinastia. This tournament, which will see family members team together in tag team action, will begin on June 7th and will end on on June 21st. It’s unclear if this tournament will serve as a replacement for the Gran Alternativa, which generally takes place this time of year, or if CMLL is moving the latter tournament till later in 2019.
As already stated, CMLL’s Juicio Final takes place on May 31st. Lucha Central will provide full coverage of the event.
