For once, CMLL’s promise of a noteworthy press conference actually delivered…until CMLL went and CMLL’d themselves again. The promotion officially announced today that Homenaje a Dos Leyendas will take place on March 15th and that the legendary Blue Demon would be honored alongside CMLL founder Salvador Lutteroth. They then appeared to follow that announcement by booking Niebla Roja vs. Terrible in a hair vs. hair match, a rematch from their Universal Championship match this past Friday. It was not to be, as Bestia del Ring and Terrible attacked Roja, leading to Angel de Oro making the save and turning the match into a tag team bout between Roja/Oro and Bestia/Terrible. Neither announcement is a major surprise; while Roja-Terrible had been the focus ever since their match on Friday, Oro and Bestia have been feuding themselves and seemed shoe ins to be added. Meanwhile Blue Demon is considered one of the greatest luchadores in CMLL history; the fact that he hasn’t been honored at H2L already is more surprising than his inclusion this year. This will be Roja’s first time headlining Homenaje a Dos Leyendas, the second time for Bestia and Oro (who headlined just a year ago in mask vs. mask match against Cuatrero) and the fourth for Terrible.

That was not the only news of the day however. In perhaps the biggest story coming out of this presser, CMLL announced they will be returning to Televisa via their channel Canal9. Rumors have been swirling that CMLL would be replacing AAA on Televisa, though those rumors appeared to have been shot down earlier this week. Instead CMLL will indeed be replacing AAA in the Friday time slot, beginning on March 2nd with an airing of this upcoming Friday’s show. There is no news yet on how/if this will affect CMLL’s Friday shows streaming on Marco Claro. CMLL also announced the return/debut of several Japanese talents; New Japan’s IWGP Intercontinental Champion and Los Ingobernables member Tetsuya Naito will be returning to CMLL on March 29th while REINA wrestler Tae Honma will be making her debut on April 19th. No details were given on how long their stay will be, but given Naito’s New Japan commitments it is expected his appearance will be a one off.

Finally, CMLL also filled out more of the H2L card. The opener will see Titan and CMLL Arena Coliseo Tag Team Champions Esfinge and Triton take on Hijo del Villano III, Polvora and Vangellys, while the super team of Caristico, Dragon Lee and Soberano Jr. take on Ephesto, Mephisto and Templario and Negro Casas returns to team with La Peste Negra member Cavernario and Gilbert El Boricua (Lucha Underground’s Mil Muertes) to face the Dinamitas, Cuatrero, Forastero and Sanson. Two matches will be announced later today on CMLL Informa; with top stars like Volador Jr., Mistico, Los Guerrero Laguneros and Atlantis not announced yet, it’s expected they will likely fill out those top sports.

Lucha Central will keep you updated on this developing story.
