During the Masked Republic Minute on last week’s Keepin it 100 episode, Konnan hinted that AAA main soon be running a tournament. Apparently soon meant this week! Just moments ago AAA wrapped up a press conference for Lucha Capital, a 25 luchador(a) tournament consisting of four promotions and one stable that will air exclusively on Facebook, starting tomorrow, for the next two months.  The show will air at 9:30 EST, giving you just enough time to catch a breather after Lucha Underground’s first part of Ultima Lucha IV concludes at 9.

According to a press release put out by AAA following the press conference, the tournament will be divided into four stages. The first, taking place from October 31st till November 14th, will see the winning luchador(a)s awarded three points (earning Facebook followers is stressed as an importance for luchador(a)s as well, so it’s possible that may factor into the points standings). The second stage, from November 21st till December 5th, will determine the semi-finalists and finalists. Those who have won two matches will immediately advance to the final stage, those with one win will advance to the third stage and those with zero wins will sadly be eliminated. The third stage on December 12th will be a special five match card where all the one match participants will duke it out to try and advance to the finale. That finale, called the Grand Final, will take place a week later on December 19th. The seven match card will be made up of four three way matches; the winners of those will advance to two, one on one semi-finals matches to determine a one on one final, where the winner will be crowned the Lucha Capital winner. As of now, it’s not clear whether an additional prize will be offered to the winner.

It should come as no surprise that the field of talent is loaded with a mixture of top luchadores and luchadoras from all over the world. AAA will make up the bulk of the field, with Hijo del Vikingo, La Hiedra, Lady Shani, Mascarita Sagrada (it’s unclear which version), Máximo, Murder Clown, Niño Hamburguesa, Pagano, the ace himself Psycho Clown and Vanilla representing the promotion. Elite will offer up Golden Magic, Keyra, Lady Maravilla, Laredo Kid and Puma King, while Konnan’s rudo stable MAD will be represented by Australian Suicide, Killer Kross and Taurus. Finally, Impact and Lucha Underground make up the final seven luchador(a)s, with Aerostar, Drago and Texano on Team LU while Fenix, Pentagon Jr, Scarlett Bordeaux and Taya. Yes, the current Impact and Lucha Underground star will be making her return to AAA for the first time since falling out with the promotion just over a year ago, and judging from her reactions on Twitter is very excited to be back!

As already stated, Lucha Capital will kick off tomorrow at 9:30 p.m EST time and can be seen live on AAA’s Facebook page. The opening night matches will feature former Los Psychos Circus members colliding as Psycho Clown takes on Murder Clown, Pagano against Taurus, La Hiedra vs. Vanilla and a potential lucha dream match as Pentagon Jr. looks to continue his hot streak against Puma’s when squaring off against Puma King. Lucha Central will be covering Lucha Capital for it’s duration, including previews and reviews of each show.
