New Japan’s annual Best of the Super Juniors tournament is guaranteed to at least feature one luchador from either CMLL or Ring of Honor. In a welcome surprise, this year will feature three. Ring of Honor luchador Bandido and CMLL luchadores Dragón Lee and Titán will each compete in this year’s Best of the Super Juniors. Their respective blocks haven’t been announced yet.
Dragón Lee’s participation in this competition comes as no surprise; he has not only competed in the last two Best of Super Juniors but will enter this one as the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, a title that guaranteed his participation. Bandido is also not a surprise, as his previous tours in Japan for Dragon Gate and strong buzz in the US made him very likely to make his first ever Best of the Super Juniors appearance. That leaves Titán, who is a bit of a surprise entry. The 28 year old CMLL luchador is no stranger to New Japan, appearing at FantasticaMania practically every year while also taking part in competitions like the 2016 Super J Cup and the 2017 Super J Tag Team Cup. This will however be Titán’s first Best of the Super Juniors appearance since 2013, and in the wake of a renewed push with CMLL (he’ll be appearing in the Torneo a Parejas Increibles Final this Friday) seems to suggest big things are in store for talented luchador.
Best of the Super Juniors 26 will begin on May 13th.
