Just like Buffy the Vampire Slayer continues its reign as the greatest television show of all time, AAA remained the king of the lucha libre ratings yet again. The promotion’s November 8th show on TV Azteca’s Azteca 7 station, which featured part of AAA’s recent Heroes Inmortales event, drew a 0.7o rating and 394.82K viewers, up about 6.6% from last week’s 0.65 and 368.72K viewers. While not a substantial increase, the number is the highest AAA has posted since October 12th and with more of Heroes Inmortales to come next week suggests good things are still to come for Mexico’s most popular lucha libre program.

Meanwhile Nacion de Lucha Libre came back strong after an alarming showing. Their Saturday night show on Imagen TV drew a 0.41 rating and 228.95K viewers, up from last week’s 0.25 and 142.71K viewers. That the number increased after going up against the Canelo Alvarez fight last week is no surprise; that the increase was north of 37%, bringing NLL back around their normal numbers (albeit a slight bit down from before the Canelo fight) is very good news and suggests things will be back to normal.

Unfortunately the same cannot be said about CMLL. It was expected, like Nacion, that CMLL would bounce back from last week’s disastrous 0.29 rating and 166.28K viewers. Instead things got worse, as CMLL dropped nearly 24K viewers this past Saturday for a 0.25 rating and 142.29K viewers, around a 14% drop from last week’s record low. That now makes this week’s CMLL show on Televisa’s Gala TV the lowest rating for a lucha libre program since we started keeping track of the Nielsen ratings earlier this year. While this week’s CMLL show was nothing special (a replay of a mediocre Super Viernes from the night before), the lack of competition and the continue drop after last week is not a good sign for CMLL. To make matters worse, the promotion was once again beaten by both WWE RAW and Smackdown, though in a bit of a role reversal. RAW was up big from last week, increasing around 15% for a 0.36 rating and 203.23K viewers, while Smackdown dropped heavily, falling over 26% to a 0.29 rating and 163.54K viewers.
